Dove Awards 2011

Last night was the 42nd Annual Dove awards. As always the prestigious awards recognise the elite of those bringing us the good news through gospel music.

Francesca Battistelli was 'on cloud nine' after scooping three awards, including the Female Vocalist of the Year and Artist of the Year. Chris August also took home a couple of awards including New Artist of the Year.

We'll bring you a full list of the award winner soon and also try our hardest to get interview with both of these singer songwriters as we aim to to bring more artists to our site.

More Big Church Day Out 2011 News

After a brief update back in November, there have been more artists added to the bill and the 2011 Big Church Day Out website is overflowing with new content and information for this year!

The Big Church Day Out is all about coming together to celebrate our faith regardless of what church we go to our our background. It's about people and faith, music and worship, activities, families, and just being together. There’s something for everybody, from a nice cup of tea with a Chamber Orchestra, to high energy worship, from drama to touch rugby, from bouncy castles to quiet prayer…it’s all about being ‘church’ together.

The event provides a chance for Christians to see that they are part of a bigger family, to meet that family and to be inspired by it. Likewise, those who serve sacrificially and endlessly in their local church communities throughout the rest of the year, here can find space to relax and celebrate life.

Amazing stuff! And the music artists and bands appearing this year include: TobyMac, Newsboys, Philippa Hanna, Lou Fellingham, Chip Kendall, BeBe Vox, Stuart Townend, Matt Redman, Guvna B and LZ7.

Check out the Big Church Day Out website here and make sure you get your Ealry Bird tickets now! You can also keep up to date on twitter and facebook.

Latest Christian Music News

Christian artist Rebecca St James has had an amazing 2011 already. She got engaged on Christmas Day in Tennessee. Rebecca has said to friends, "We are truly amazed at finding our dreams and ideals met in the love we've found. We are exceedingly grateful for this precious gift from God." Her signature song "Wait For Me" has helped to inspire girls and women all over the world to be models of purity before marriage for over a decade.

Plenty of Christian artists in the nominations for the Grammys. Israel Houghton, Forever James and Switchfoot have all been nominated. Make sure to tune in on February 13th to see the outcome.

Congratulations to Natalie Grant on the safe arrival of her third daughter. Born in December Sadie Rose joins twin sisters Isabella and Grace. "Perfect, healthy and GORGEOUS!" tweeted Natalie as Sadie arrived a week early.

Winter Jam 2011 kicks off it's 45 date tour in the States this weekend. The gig boasts the likes of the Newsboys, Red and Kutless. The pre-show party brings Chris Sligh, Sidewalk Prophets and Chris August to the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.

To celebrate the New Year, Phatfish have laid on an album deal combo for their new disc 'Anthems' and any record from their back catalogue. Choose from 'Heavenbound', 'Purple Through the Fishtank' and even grab a Lou Fellingham solo album such as 'Step Into The Light'. Offer available through their website.

Finally...Last month, Mark Hall lead singer from Casting Crowns spoke about how the band not only want to reach out to families of army troops, but the troops themselves. Hall said at a church in Atlanta that a serviceman came up to him when the band played over in the Middle East for the troops. The solider said: "I've heard your music before; my wife listens to your music; but the things that you said [in the concert] and the songs that you sang have really given me hope to get through this." Let's hope that the rest of the troops fighting for our countries can have the same hope and faith.
